A Visit to The Pet Show

We have always been a house of animal lovers. I've owned fish, rats, hamsters, rabbits in the past (please do not remind my Mother the year I brought rats back from uni) and am currently the proud owner of Lucy the dog and mental Stinky Pete aka 'naughty cat' (steer clear if you ever visit, he often attacks whilst you're on the loo, shudder). So when the lovely Katrina from Cool Bananas Blog said she was coming up to the Midlands to meet Sian from Potty Mouthed Mummy and Chantelle from Seychelles Mama who was over from the Seychelles (!) for a visit, we jumped at the chance to go to 'The Pet Show' with them all and their little families.

The Pet Show at Stoneleigh Park is the biggest event of it's kind, aimed a pet owners and their pets. There was so much to see with all sorts of animals on offer to hold, stroke or even brush! My girls highlight of the day was brushing a micro pig and mine was holding a bearded dragon. Both I did consider sneaking off in my coat but I managed to resist the temptation. Alas the weather was a bit naff so we didn't get to see much outdoors fun but all the stuff going on inside kept my little ones interested for hours!

Not only did we get to hang out with loads of weird and wonderful pets, I also managed to bag a range of dead cheap posh pet food and treats for Lucy and Stinky Pete. My girl and I also had a crack at making a honeycomb candle. But as we have the attention spans of gnats? The bee man had to finish ours.

I managed to resist buying more pets. I am saving this for when I am an OAP and I become a crazy cat lady. This is going to happen and I have embraced it. It was fab meeting up with some lovely bloggy chums and also great to hang out with the fam doing something a bit different from the usual rubbish rainy soft play (urgh).

We did get tickets free to visit The Pet Show.

  4. Looks like a great day! Children seem to love animals and I think it's good for them to be around each other...but I'm terrified of their little fingers being pecked at or something...
