Gruffalo : Games Competition

When I was a little girl, the thought of a tablet or an iPhone would have blown my tiny mind. An etch a sketch was the height of modern day excitement but at just three and a half my girl is an expert on both. OK she may watch the odd Kinder Egg being unwrapped (times one bazillion) but she also loves to play games with me on it so we had a crack at the new 'Gruffalo : Games' app on her Dad's iPhone.

And she bloomin loved it! The first Gruffalo: Game we played was one where mouse has to collect all manner of things but as it was both our first times playing the game he kept getting bonked on the head the by nuts the poor sod. Next we had a go at a matching game. My girl loved it as she could match up shapes with shapes, and I loved it as when the letters and number cropped up I could do my teacher thang and talk to her about them.

The Gruffalo has long been an obsession in our house and this summer we visited both the Live Show and the Trail so obviously both my kids loved this game a lot. The screen comes alive with the story and it was fantastic to see all the stars of the book in a different 'plot'. The Gruffalo: Games app costs just £2.99, features six different games and is aimed at children aged 3-7. All of the characters pop up and the lovely rather forest like music that is used is, from the film of the story. What my girl loved most was the fact that literally her Dad gave her the phone and she could pop on it straight away and work out what to do without very much guidance. What I loved was that it pushed her ability wise, there were easy bits but there were harder bits that we could try and tackle together and eventually as she gets older she could tackle herself.
To celebrate the launch of the Gruffalo ; Games app I am giving away a lovely set ideal for any Gruffalo fan including a 15th Anniversary book and bag, a soft toy, the DVD of the film and a copy of this amazing app. All you need to do is enter below, leaving either a blog comment saying who your favourite character from the book is, like my facebook page, follow me on twitter or follow Magic Lights who are involved with the game on twitter. For more chances to win...do all four! Good Luck! Winners will be drawn on Saturday 27th September.

The prizes on offer!
We're going on an adventure

  3. Gotta love the Gruffalo and assorted woodlands pals! Each character seems to have a distinct personality - it's the one book I always do 'voices' for hehe! Have to say though that I always chuckle at the voiceless squirrel in the background, who scampers into the tree in fear of what's unfolding in front of him! Love that squirrel... X

  4. Has to be The Gruffalo himself. It's become my daughter's favourite book this summer. We've seen 2 Gruffalo sculptures and met him in Wendover Woods. She high-fives him in the photos on my phone!! Plus this week we saw him on the Books about Town bench. She lit up when she spotted him!
