My girl seems to feature a lot in my writing and more often that not over the past few years she has been the one that has taken up my of my time and attention, so I was so pleased when we received an invite to go and watch 'Tale of the Brave', the new Thomas film at Thomas Land, Drayton Manor. I was excited as Thomas Land is by far one of my favourite places to visit with the children and also this would be the first time my boy had been to the cinema. And what a fab first time it was!
We were greeted with popcorn and Thomas drinks and then Sir Topham Hatt (or the Fat Controller as we remember him) came in and escorted us to watch the film. Imagine that! Imagine being a little boy who loves Thomas and going to the cinema for the first time with one of the stars of the show. Even I was bloomin excited. The 'Tale of the Brave' is a film all about facing your fears, in this case after monstrous storm on the Island of Sodor results in Thomas and co being scared of a suspected monster. My girl LOVED the film and despite a trip to the loo (after four cartons of Thomas pop) she was transfixed. The boy did well and lasted half an hour which was fab for a 20 month old.
What I loved about the film was the sentiment. It was a tale of the brave, working together with your friends and fighting your fears and it really resonated with my two. My girl is started pre-school and I am sure she is a smidge anxious and my boy, with the help of his sister is becoming braver and braver. He used to be quiet and reserved but if you look in the photos you can see him finally coming out of his shell and climbing around the amazing Thomas Land playground. He now sits in the front on the rides and drives them rather than hiding in the back with me, he dances when Sir Topham Hatt sings as if no-one is watching and will happily chat along with any giant puppet cats pop up in front of him.
This film is out now on DVD to watch which is just perfect, at just over an hour it is longer than the usual episodes that are on Milkshake. But as it is on DVD you can pause and do as many loo breaks as you want! I think it is perfect for any Thomas fans and as it is a teeny tiny bit scary it held my girls interest too. There's new characters in the form of Marion, Reg and Gator and all the old favourites feature. For more information about Thomas look here or pop to the shop and buy the DVD yourself!
Here is a little vlog from one of our past visits to Thomas Land. Told you we loved it!
We were invited to go and visit Thomas Land but the film was fab and so is Drayton Manor!
