Taking The Mother 'Up North'

Last weekend I took the Mother up north to Manchester for a nice bit of festive shopping and a look around the Christmas markets. I have not been Manchester since I used to go and sit outside Take That's houses which was well over 20 years ago (sob).

We were lucky enough to be able to travel first class from Birmingham New Street station with CrossCountry. We felt all snazzy and smug getting on what transpired to be the worlds busiest train. It was lovely to sit in nice big seats with wifi and a plug socket for my phone. We also had a nice complimentary cup of tea and some biscuits which went very nicely with other travelling essentials I brought at the station, such as Heat magazine and Percy Pigs. Imagine the joy of not having to SHARE THEM! And reading about celeb issues in actual peace and quiet. Not having to hide in the loo to read it. Oh 'twas ace.

So here are some photos from our day out. We do have a Christmas market in Birmingham which is fantastic but the Manchester one seemed a little bigger and sold some different bits and bobs to what we are used to. My Mother did purchase the worlds creepiest Father Christmas for my Dad. Which I think could well wake up and kill me on Boxing Day. So see with your eyes our adventures and if you're feeling super festive go and watch a little vlog of the day.

I had fun travelling with CrossCountry.
If you would like to find out about about travelling with them check their site out here.

  2. Our local Christmas market is pretty rubbish in Oxford. Haven't ever been to Birmingham ones and should do really, or even up to Manchester for a visit with my friend. I do love a mulled cider and mooch around lovely and weird stalls.
