At Christmas we got the chance to visit the amazing Blithbury Reindeer Lodge in Rugeley. I can honestly say it was one of our favourite Christmas trips, with even the ever so fussy (i.e grumpy) husband loving it. When we were invited back this weekend to review their 'Frozen' event? We even postponed date afternoon so we could go! That's commitment people.
My girl got her face painted to make her look even more like Queen Elsa and we went on our very own Reindeer Sleigh ride. Which made me cry a bit. As it was lovely. It made the girl scream a lot as our reindeer got a little bit over excited and did a run (I nearly had a heart attack).
There are lots of animals to go round and feed such as donkeys, teeny tiny ponies, and of course the beautiful reindeer. Now this sounds weird. As animals are animals. And animals stink. Even my dog stinks. Like loads. But the animals here? Don't? They are super clean and when you stroke them they are soft. Like animals from a book or a film. I may have kissed a donkey. I may have been shouted at my other half for doing so.
We also took part in the fab 'Make a Marshmallow Olaf' event which was super clever. But literally my children smiled for one photo with them, then consumed the whole lot. I didn't mind until I noticed all the other parents were putting them in nice little bags to take home. Bad Mum.
The highlight of the day was the 'Frozen Sing Along' in the main barn. There were lots of little tree trunk stools, with smaller ones for the children so they could sit at the front. Then Anna and Elsa came on and sang. Like actually sang. And they were good. Not like me screeching "Let it Goooooooo" in the bath. At one point they brought on Sven, who sang too! It was brilliant and it made me cry. Job done.
Alas this is the only Frozen weekend Blithbury Reindeer Lodge are planning on doing. But you know what? They should so do it more often as it was amazing. There are lots of other events taking place throughout the year which I am sure will include the magic of their beautiful (and so very, very clean) reindeer. Whatever you do, don't try and snog a donkey. You will make your other half cross. To find out more visit their site here.
