Sea the Stars at the SEA LIFE Centre

This weekend we were lucky enough to pop along the the National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham to go and see their brand spanking new 'Sea Stars' starfish exhibit. We have visited the centre a few times before but there were some new things on offer this time that made our trip different and even more exciting for our little ones.

The new exhibit brings a variety of different breeds of starfish to the Midlands including the Chocolate Knobbed (no giggling), the Brittle Star and the Common Star Fish. Housed in a brand new area, the beautiful sea creatures were surprisingly large and with pop up bubbles and and peek-a-boo holes you really could get up close and see them in all their glory.

My girl also loved the Sponge Bob Square Pants 'Sponge Hunt' which she did with her Dad as she walked around. It was great for little ones as it meant that she had to pay extra special attention to the tanks around the SEA LIFE centre. She had to look if she could spot some of the characters from the new Spongebob Movie. Each time she did? She got another sticker from her Dad to pop on her Sponge Hunt Map.

As well as the starfish on show there are over 2000 other creatures to see at the SEA LIFE centre. Ranging from my favourites the penguins and the otters, to my little boy favourites the 'Nemo' fish (OK so he calls every fish a Nemo fish but hey if it keeps him happy!).

As well as marvelling at the underwater world there are also a range of other activities on offer including painting, various different little games you can play on the walk round the centre and at the end there is a lovely little soft play area.

We had a fantastic morning at the National SEA LIFE Centre and if you would like visit go here to purchase tickets or for more information on Sea Stars go to have a look here. The National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham is located in Brindley Place. Opening times are 10am-5pm on Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm at weekends.

Check out our visit from last year!

  6. The Sea Life centre's are fab place to go and explore as a family, there's always so many different animals to see. Their new Starfish exhibit sounds really interesting, and I bet it's exciting to be able to pop your heads through the bubbles. Popping in from Magic Moments.
