The Headache Of Pregnancy

I found pregnancy really hard. I was not one of these women who glowed. In fact I if there was the opposite of glowing. That was me. I was like a non glowing troll. I had every ailment going. From leg cramps, to that weird thing where your mouth tastes of metal. I also had headaches. For both pregnancies I was working full time in a secondary school and often I would come home stressed and with a thumping head. But alas couldn't take anything to stop it. So here are a few ways I unwound and tried to stop the banging headaches whilst looking after my baby bump.

Not being a martyr
Sometimes as women we try to carry on. As pregnant women we are DETERMINED to not let anything stop us. We are women hear us roar! But in reality ever so often you need to stop. So when things were getting too much for me I would say to the husband (as he never quite picks up on these things) "I need help" and that would often lead to...

Having a bath
Make your other half run a bath, shove a on and pop in a bath bomb and try your very best to relax. The best thing about being in the bath is whilst you unwind you can see your baby wriggle around in your belly. I ruddy miss that.

Think outside of the box
Whilst you can't really take painkillers when you are pregnant there are other things that are available. One new product on the market is the Kool 'n' Soothe cooling strips. The non medicinal strips come in a pack of four and you can pop them on your head to provide immediate cooling relief. They don't need to be kept in the fridge and would have been perfect to keep in my bag whilst I was pregnant and needed a bit of relief at school dinner time. If you have any left over? Keep them safe as they are perfect for hangovers (and migraines) and I promise you. One day you will go out again!

Take a moment
I could say take a moment and enjoy the miracle of growing a human. And yeah you could do that. Or? You could grab a load of chocolate, get into bed and watch 10 episodes of Teen Mom 2 in a row. Try to avoid One Born Every Minute though...may make that headache worse.

Kool 'n' Soothe are currently running a fab competition for the chance to
win a spa break if you sign up over at their site.

This post was written in collaboration with Kool 'n' Soothe headache strips.

  1. I definitely wasn't a 'glowy' pregnant lady either. I watched a lot of One Born Every Minute when I was pregnant - I clearly wasn't thinking straight!!

    1. Ha ha ha! I know it's something we are all drawn to! x

  2. I swear by these strips as I am a migraine sufferer (not pregnant) and they seem to be the only thing that works for me. Infact I go through boxes of them x

    1. Oh brilliant! Glad you like them. I was sent quite a few and have dished them out. They seem super popular! x
