Healthily Ever After With Disney

I will let you into a little secret. I am a bit obsessed with Disney. Sure I roll my eyes when I have to watch Frozen again and I may grumble when my daughter asks us to play Descendants but it's all an act. Disney makes all of my family happy especially my two children. So when BritMums asked us to develop some top healthy tips for the new Disney #HealthilyEverAfter campaign? I jumped at the chance. The campaign is aiming to inspire life-long healthier behaviours in families through story-telling, imagination, fun and play. I decided to focus on three areas that my two have struggled with in the past; eating a healthy breakfast, playing nicely together and getting out and about outside.

Healthy Breakfast
Breakfasts can be a bit manic in this household and it's really easy to sit in front of the television with a piece of toast. So when we have the time we love to put on The Descendants soundtrack and dance around. The kids don't notice they are shoving handfuls of fruit down their mouths and also don't notice my dreadful moves.

Playing Nicely
My two find it difficult to play together nicely. They are always fighting over toys, television and magazines. A great idea for a game both of them can enjoy is to throw a Beauty and The Beast inspired tea party. Anyone can come from Rapunzel to my son's big brown teddy. I wonder what they chat about?

Getting Outside
The weather has been a bit grim recently and it is very temping to stay inside and watch films all afternoon. My children get bored if they are cooped up for more than a few hours. So grab your wellies and go for a run about. During these moments my two are as close as Anna and Elsa and love blowing off some steam whilst they chase each other.

  2. I really need to start taking Ben out again! We used to go out every Monday for a walk, but I just hate the Winter! Cannot wait for it to warm up a bit! Ben does get outside playtime at Nursery so at least that's something. I also try not to turn the TV on before he goes so he has 2 mornings completely TV free every week. I need to start not turning it on as soon as we get up (as he usually has breakfast straight away), and give him a chance to have that and then play with his toys!
