This week I was lucky enough to be invited by the Bullring Shopping Centre in Brum to spend a bit of 'me time' with my Mum in honour of Mother's Day on March 6th. Since I have had the kids my Mum has been such an amazing help. She gets up at 6am two days a week and drives over (along with my Dad) to look after them whilst I work part time as a teacher. If she didn't do this? I would have to go back to work full time as there would be no way that we would be able to afford nursery fees. So with a bit of children (and grandchildren) free time we hit the shops!
We had a little mooch around Debenhams and a few other shops and Mum finally decided that the perfect gift for her was a little Pandora charm to go alongside the other charms on her necklace. She opted for the 'Mother's Day' one as a reminder of the day. We then strolled back to Debenhams (strolled!!! We didn't have any children to hold hands with or chase!) and had a look round their women's department where she chose a top that she plans to wear when we go on holiday to Lanzarote in whit week.
Next stop was a lovely restaurant called Chi Kitchen that was tucked upstairs in the make up and perfume department of Debenhams. We went to the back, away from the hustle and bustle of the main shop and had a great view of the city centre. We tried out the Mother's Day menu. I opted for the most delicious vegetable spring rolls I have ever tasted whilst Mum had squid. The staff were super friendly and explained that if you were eating from the main Pan Asian menu there are so many different options that your friend could be eating Thai food whilst you tuck into a Japanese dish. For our mains I had a lovely Thai vegetable curry and we finished off with a chocolate pudding. In fact we were so full we had to send one back!
(Whisper don't tell anyone but we also had a glass of Prosecco each ON A WEDNESDAY LUNCHTIME!). We had such a nice time Chi Kitchen and I know Mum already has plans to take her friends back there. We had a great morning at The Bull Ring and I know it was just the relaxing treat we both needed and made for a perfect Mother's Day experience. Mum went home happy with her new Pandora charm and I may have splurged on some expensive make up (I brought three eye shadow palettes. The Prosecco clearly went to my head).
If you are looking for something fun to do with your Mum for Mother's Day then why not pop into the Bullring for a shop or book a table and experience the Mother's Day menu at Chi Kitchen. If you are looking for any other Mother's Day gift ideas check out my gift guide here!
