Treat Your Machine Like A Queen
I bet you didn't know that if you run a wash cycle once a year with just hot water and a bottle of vinegar it will clean off all the nasty residue that may be accumulating in your machine? I tried it for the first time and was TERRIFIED but? It seemed to work out well and hopefully will help my joyous laundry look a little better.
Organise Your Dirty Undies
I must admit I was a bit haphazard with my washing. Which 'may' (totally did) involve me sometimes shouting at my husband a bit. Especially during those times when I had a new born and a toddler. It's a good idea to work out a bit of a schedule. Not only will you feel more in control but you are more like to wish full loads which in turn will save 1-2 washes a week as well as water and time. Wahoo!
Mmmmmm spring cleaning! My dream!
Dear Husband...SEPARATE WHITES AND COLOURS
Red is not a white, pink is not really a white. White is a white. WHY IS THIS SO HARD? Try and split your loads into different baskets for what colour they are. This will note only make sure you don't get pink tops but also will mean you don't get a divorce. Fact.
Sort Out Your Stains
If you have a few spare minutes it's a good idea to treat stains straight away with Ecover Stain Remover before using Ecover Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Liquid. You could also try pre-treating stains with a range of bizarre household ingredients. For greasy stains you could dab the mark with shampoo and work in with an old toothbrush (or your husband's if he forgot to separate the colours). If you have a biro mark (as a teacher this is pretty much a permanent fixture on all of my clothes) spray it with hairspray before you bung it in the machine. And did you know white bread can blot up lipstick? Well now you do!
With four beds to change in this house, changing bedding can be SOUL destroying. So when washing your sheets turn the duvet inside out and do up the buttons and then no tiny stray socks will get stuck inside. Also when the sheets are dry? Fold them up nicely and pop them all in a pillowcase which will keep everything all together!
So there you go a few top tips to help you lighten your laundry load! I would LOVE to hear any more you may have in the comments. Now I'm off to sort out my colours from my whites. Before all hell breaks lose.
