Making Summer Clothes Shopping With Kids... Bearable.

Shopping with two small children is hard work. Shopping with two small children, on a hot Saturday, for summer clothes? Nigh on impossible. But when we were invited along to try out Birmingham Debenhams free personal shopper service and look at their lovely summer kidswear range. I thought "what's the worst that could happen?". I even managed to persuade my husband to come with me. Which pretty much NEVER happens. Miserable sod.

When we arrived at the store we went up to the second floor and was greeted by the friendliest personal shopper ever. She had such a lovely way with both of the kids and asked them what kind of clothes they liked. Of course my girl stated "pink, flowers, diamonds". Whilst my boy just said "superheroes". I knew that I had to make sure I kept an eye on what they picked out for fear of some HUGE fashion faux pas.

We went around the kidswear floor at Debenhams and I was instantly drawn to the Blue Zoo brand. And this is where we got most of the clothes from. I love the idea of having a designer brands like Ted Baker but during the summer holiday more often than not the clothes they wear are going to get dirty, so I opted for ones that were in the lower price range. And even more of a winner a few of the dresses had money off!

Once we had gone round and I had managed to persuade my daughter to put back the five pink diamond encrusted dresses she opted for, we went back to the personal shopping area and popped all their bits and pieces on a rail. Which felt ever so posh. The space inside the changing room is really big. It has plenty of room for a large family to go and sit in and the mirrors meant that my two could have a right pose. I loved that we could strip down and change outfits without being a sweaty hot mess.

Occasionally there were items that didn't fit or we decided we wanted something else to go with them and the lovely Debenhams personal shopper popped out and got a different size. It was brilliant to not  have to just hope that they fit and having to come back into town again when they inevitably didn't. I really enjoyed the whole process and not one single whinge was let out by my little ones, or the big 6ft 2 one. My girl tried on everything from beautiful party dresses, to summer frocks ideal for the beach. She was in her ruddy element!

I think that personal shopping is a fantastic idea. Especially if you need to bulk buy loads of clothes for a summer holiday or a special event. The room was spacious, the staff were friendly and my pair really loved strutting around and showing off in front of everyone. There was a great range of clothes on offer in Debenhams. From the beautiful higher end clothes including Ted Baker to the Blue Zoo and Mandalay ranges that we opted for.

My girl happily skipped off with a unicorn t-shirt and one very special pair of designer shoes (which I wanted SO badly) whilst I chose her an amazing jumpsuit and a few party dresses ideal for our upcoming holiday. My boy of course conned me into getting him another Batman t-shirt. Pop over to Debenhams and see their fab range of kids clothes which are just perfect for summer.

  1. My kids would have such fun with a personal shopper! My girl gets excited by changing rooms (weird, I know!) and trying everything on. I love Blue Zoo, we have a lot of Blue Zoo here! x
