A Wonderful Trip To Darwin Forest Country Park

Life has been pretty hectic recently. If you follow me on social media you will know that we have just moved house and have been surrounded by boxes for months and months. So when Darwin Forest Country Park, situated in the heart of the Peak District, asked if we wanted a lodge for a weekend. Well? We screamed "HELL YEAH!".

Located only 90 minutes from Birmingham, Darwin Forest is based in an idyllic country setting. As we live not far from the city centre the kids got a real kick when we discovered our lodge was set inside a forest. I got a real kick that it had a car parking space and we didn't have to lug our bags anywhere. When we got the keys and took a tour around the lodge? We were gobsmacked. It was beautiful. Clean, spacious and with added extras such as a dishwasher which excited me and a fancy light up mirror that really made my girl squeal.

Our lodge came with a balcony but there are several on site that also come complete with a hot tub. Which would just be bliss and perfect for either a romantic get away or one with extended family. On the first evening we strolled down to the onsite Foresters restaurant and tucked into some lovely food (and a cheeky Pimms) before walking back. Stopping to look at the bunnies that are running all over the place. I then took advantage of a hot bath whilst the children watched TV with their Dad.

The next day we decided to use some of the onsite facilities. The kids went swimming with their Dad whilst I read a magazine. It was heaven. You can also do paid activities such as an exercise class, treat yourself to a spa treatment or as a family hire some bikes. As we wanted to chill out we just stuck to having lovely long walks around the forest and playing on the outdoor adventure playground. In the afternoon we took a short drive to Bakewell and spent a few glorious hours mooching about
and obviously eating too many cakes.

On the Sunday we decided to shove our trainers on and go for a few more long walks and I may have enjoyed another bath. To end our break we popped into the kids under 5 free soft play area. We absolutely loved our stay at Darwin Forest Country Park. It was just so close to home and the lodge facilities really were top class. It's somewhere we would love to return to. Perhaps for five days, or even a week, to really make the most of it. The location is beautiful with a variety of country pubs on it's doorstep as well as lovely little quaint villages close by.

Thanks so much to Darwin Country Park for inviting us to stay.
