My Dream Office Tour

Recently we moved house. If you've been following the blog for a while you will know that in our old house my office was in the playroom. I shared my working space with toys, buggies, boxes and a murderous guinea pig called Anna. When we moved to our new home we made the decision to have the front room as a place to work. Even for the first weeks I got the Mum guilt about it. But the kids have bigger bedrooms and I work long hours from home. It had to be done! So here are some of my favourite places in my (eek) dream office!

We live in an old three story terraced house in Birmingham which has a lot of the original features. The floor in my office is wooden which can be a bit cold in the winter months so I chose this geometric rug from our local Homesense. The monochrome cushion was also from Homesense and was meant to be for the children to sit on. But obviously within seven minutes the dog took ownership of it, despite never being interested in a dog bed before.

I would like to take credit for the tiles in this fireplace but they came with the house. This is the part of the office I put all my little knick knacks (or tat as my husband calls it). The mirror is again from Homesense and whilst it is totally impractial it makes the room look a lot bigger. The green vase was from the Next sale and the green candle and small succulent pot were from Anthropologie. You will just see tucked in the back a cactus vase which I recently bought in Primark.

In the one of the corners of the room is a large set of drawers. We got these with our wedding money and? They would not go up our new stairs! So they now live in the office and contain the kids computer games. The aim is that we can watch TV in the other room whilst the kids play games in here. One of my favourite parts of the room is the Luxaflex shutters. I ADORE them. Our local dealer Solihull Blinds came round to measure up about a month ago and fitted them this week. They are perfect as we live on quite a busy road so I can have privacy whilst I work but if I needed to get some extra light to film in they are really easy to open.

Our couch was from SCS and is a simple grey two seater which we ordered with monochrome cushions. In the corner are my children's first paintings from nursery which I had framed and will keep until I am an old lady. The succulent is from the local Sainsburys. The plant pictures are from Homesense and were sold individually. They go really well with the plants in the room and brighten up the plain white walls.

My desk was really reasonably priced from Ikea. As it has the worlds smallest drawers I also got a set of little white drawers from Ikea to house 10% of my ridiculous stationery collection. I like to surround myself with lovely things so I have few pictures followers have sent me. As well as a lovely 'Brummymummyof2' penguin book my clever friend Caro made me. I shall pretend to you now I sit at my desk to work and in no way lie on the couch in a tatty old blanket thinking what a flipping lucky girl I am.

If you would like to see more from my office, take a peak in my drawers and watch my chat on about my first love...stationery please go and watch the Office Tour above!
