I'm not sure why but in the past few years it has become apparent that change is not my friend. A change is not as good as a break. A change is more likely to actually break me. The poor Husband knows that when we go away I will always be a total mare for the first two days. Which sucks when I am only away for a long weekend (or in Peppa World where I have been known to flip queuing for rides).
I work in a job where things are always changing. Pupils change, topics change and teenagers moods are always ever changing, yet if someone decided to call 'Fruit Pastilles' 'Fruit Lovelies' I would freak. I still call 'Starburst', 'Opal Fruits' (Starburst! What a god damn stupid name! They are Opal Fruits!).
As time is progressing with the children I celebrate their advances like walking and talking and jumping but part of me (don't tell them) HATES it. Make it stop. Stop changing. How can I love them as much as I do now when they are eggy (brummy term for grumpy), stinky, moody teens? It's not possible is it?
So please lovely readers. Let me know. Is change good? Will them growing up make me love them any more? And isn't 'Starburst' a stupid bloody name! And don't get me started on the Marathon/Snickers debate.
Haha! Everyone resists change, especially children. Oh my goodness! "We didn't do it this way yesterday!" "where is my very special bowl that looks exactly like this one but slightly different!". I guess it's inevitable. Sometimes it's good and sometimes not but most people don't exactly embrace it! #AllAboutYou
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about kids. If I give my girl a Thomas bowl instead of a Minnie one? I am in a whole world of trouble! She's a nightmare! xxx
DeleteHa, relate to this and kids are growing so fast and change is inevitable, my eldest starts school soon! #allaboutyou
ReplyDeleteNooooo! I don't want to think about them going to school. Ever! They shall live with me for the next hundred years. Fact! xxx
DeleteLol, I am rubbish with change, I used to be fine with it, bit since having a child I am a serious stickler for routine and get seriously grumpy when it goes out the window! Although, randomly, I love all signs of Monkey growing up, as, purely selfishly, every step makes my life a little bit easier! Oh yes and starburst is a ridiculous name ;) xx
DeleteHa! My dad still calls them marathons :) And I too spend the first (or all) of the days on holiday being a pain in the ass - but I just can't stomach the change in bedtime routine that always happens! It messes with me and my sleep (because it messes with Rueben's sleep!).
ReplyDeleteI was very glad when Reuben changed from a new born to a baby and now a toddler, he's so much easier! As for the teenager bit, I once heard Jonathan Ross say that there has to be a teenage period so that by the time they reach their 20s you want to kick them out! Thankfully it's a very long process so hopefully we'll cope with the change and not notice too much ;) xxx #allaboutyou
No I don't want teenagers. I teach teenagers! They are awful sometimes. However boy teens are much better than girl teens. That is my worry. The rolling of eyes and the sighing and grumps. Oh the dooms! xxx
DeleteChange is bad!! My son starts school in September too and I am dreading it! I had to fill in all these forms today and there is so much pressure. And yes Starburst is completely pointless and I blame the Americans. :-) On another note - loving your new header - you just had to get some bunting in there didn't you?! X
ReplyDeleteObvs had to get the bunting in bab. When I saw a bunting option I yelped with pure joy! I love bunting. But hate change. ARGH! xxx
DeleteOh brummymum, you really make me giggle!! :) Oh, i hate change too! I'm such a creature of habit. And am fully dreading the teenage years-yikes! Love your new (changed ;)) header though - buntingtastic!!xx
ReplyDeleteIf the change involves some sort of bunting? Oh am all over that. If the change involves messing up my favourite brands. No I say. NO! xxx
DeleteI love change! I'm an itchy-feet kinda girl (in an 'I always get bored' way not a fungal infection kinda way.. ha!) x Embrace it funny! Change leads to excitement! Leads to experiences :) x
ReplyDeleteOhhhh you're one of them aren't you. Those exciting creatures I am jel of. Curse you and your relaxed attitude. I want to be you. But can't. As that would mean a change! xxx
DeleteI am definitely with Wally Mummy there - I love change! My sister and I used to rearrange the furniture around the house every other month to give us a fix. We moved house repeatedly (I'd notched up 30 moves before the age of 30, so I guess it's whatever you are used to). Maybe you need to break change into your life slowly - like walk a different way to work or the school run? Wear your watch on the other wrist - scary! Apparently it's good for the old grey cells. And with kids? I know what you mean - but isn't it amazing that with every new stage, a new well of love grows inside you. #AllAboutYou x
ReplyDeleteNO!!! You are both mad! I could NEVER wear my watch on the other wrist! That would be insane!!! And a new drive to school would defo result in me totally gettting lost! Fact! xxx
