Preparation
We visited in a school holiday and imagine our HORROR when we went to go and you had to book a time slot. There were nearly tears and that was from me. However we went in a booked a time slot for the next day. I strongly advise you look online and make sure you don't have to book a time slot to save your disappointment.
On Arrival
You can take buggies and there is a check out when you arrive to the main queue so you can offload any bags, buggies, cases, coats, random scooters your kids made you bring. This is brilliant and it was great to walk around feeling foot loose and fancy free without having to carrying four coats, three bags and a small boy.
The Bus!
The first part of the adventure is a tour on a 4D bus. There is a height limit for this so make sure you don't promise any tiny tots a ride on a magic bus. Little ones and babies do get to see the same film but in a different place. The 4D is AMAZING and I screamed. It may be a bit scary but my two just about managed to cope.
The Adventure
For the next hour you go through a tour to escape from a very angry Rumpelstiltskin and meet a variety of (real life) characters from the film Shrek. Including Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and very manly lady. You also see the odd cartoon character like Puss in Boots and the Gingerbread Man. The acting is brilliant and hilarious. Be warned. There are a few scenes that my pair did find a bit scary. Especially when live witches popped out of nowhere. But with the odd cuddle and "don't worry" it was fine.
The Ending
I won't ruin the ending but lets just say it was worth waiting for. My kids were so excited and happy. It was brilliant. Overall with a running time of an hour it was ideal for small children. It was fast paced, exciting, funny for adults and really well organised. Close to The London Eye and the SEALIFE Centre it may be a good idea to do a couple of attractions all in one day.
So pop over and go and check out Shrek's Adventure or if you are interested in getting a Merlin Pass for you and your family go and see what great offers you can get on their site. Now for the best bit. Merlin are offering one lucky reader the chance to win TWO Merlin Annual Passes! This would be great for you and a mate or to help you cut the cost of family day outs. To enter? Just fill in the Rafflecopter below. GOOD LUCK!
