Adventures in LEGOLAND Windsor

I've chatted about on the blog before how we are a family that loves getting out and about. We adore theme parks and one of our all time favourites since the children were little is LEGOLAND Windsor. So when National Holidays asked if they could work with us and that they would like to take us on one of the coach breaks to LEGOLAND we jumped at the chance. Whilst my two have travelled on trains, planes and cars. We have never been on a coach holiday and it's something that I loved to do growing up with my parents.

We boarded the coach in Birmingham city centre but there are pick up points across the Midlands as well as throughout the North East, North West and Yorkshire. When I chatted to my Mum about our weekend away she was really pleased to hear that there are a couple of stops she could be picked up from close to where she lives. You are allocated seats so there's no worries that you might not all be able to sit together. Stephen is 6ft2 so was over the moon to see that the chairs had a ton of leg room. I was over the moon to see that the coach had Wifi so the children could relax on their tablets.

What really made the National Holidays experience for me was the driver. He was so friendly and had all the best 'Dad' jokes going. We had a little pit stop on the way down and when we pulled into LEGOLAND it was lovely to be on the coach and hear all the children cheer. We then spent the rest of the day in the theme park. Until 2nd September the Summer of Fun is taking place at the resort and includes a beach party, complete with a sandy beach, sand castle making and LEGO building activities. There is also a 'Make A Splash' challenge where guests can take on some of the water rides to be with a chance to win some amazing prizes.

After a fab day around the park we were picked up again by the coach and taken to a Holiday Inn in High Wycombe. Stephen loved not having to worry about directions and being able to have the chance to rest on the coach after a long day walking around the theme park. With conjoined rooms we decided on a girls pad and a boys pad. After watching a bit of CBBC we settled in for an early night. Breakfast was included on our break so Stephen ensured we were at the restaurant for 8:01am. That man knows how to maximise an all you can eat buffet.

We had another great day in the theme park and even though it was a bit drizzly it didn't stop our fun. Highlights for me were going on the Squid Surfer ride with my seven year old and watching my boy drive a boat with his Dad. We also all LOVED the LEGO Ninjago ride which is something we had never been on before. Around 3pm we departed back for Birmingham. My little boy and I had a nap and Stephen and my daughter made a little Harry Potter LEGO set. We did hit a bit of traffic but having a toilet close to hand made for a much more relaxing journey home than panicking in the car about needing a wee.

Prices for the LEGOLAND Spectacular breaks start at an amazing £99pp, with a £10 discount for children ages 2 -12, and for that you get coach travel throughout, overnight accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and, of course, two days admission toe LEGOLAND Windsor! We will definitely be taking a National Holidays break again and if you would like to find out more information check out their site here.

Thanks so much to National Holidays for inviting us on this trip.

  1. The food was always great, I think they just updated their menu and it's off the hook. Who would expect delicious pizza at such big events. Not me, but you can get some of the best pizza there. The best Chicago venues in this area.
